It wasn’t that long ago that commercial tree service was all about chainsaws, axes and the occasional pruning shear. Fortunately, the industry has come a long way, and the tools that professional arborists use today allow them to take a more technological approach to caring for your trees. If you own or manage a commercial space, these advancements make life a whole lot easier for you, thanks to how much more consistent it allows you to be with your tree care management approach.
Drones Can Provide a Bird’s-Eye View
The process of inspecting a large commercial property used to take hours upon hours because the professionals had to walk around the property and try to inspect trees from the bottom. While some potential problems might be evident from the ground, it’s hard to get a clear look at what a tree needs when you can’t see the whole picture. Thanks to drones, arborists can inspect an entire property faster while also getting a better look at the tops and sides of your trees. This not only saves time, but it also helps them make a more thorough plan for how to trim, prune and treat your trees.
Digital Mapping Makes Tree Inventories Easier
Depending on the size and type of your commercial property, you may have anywhere from dozens of trees to hundreds of them. If you’re not an expert at trees, you may not know just how many various species of trees require certain types of care. Digital mapping tools can create detailed inventories that associate individual trees with locations and relevant information.
This level of detail allows you to track your tree maintenance, identify trees that need some special attention and make plans for future work. Keeping this information organized digitally helps cut down on the odds of you missing something that needs to be done.
Specialized Equipment Improves Precision
Precision is everything when it comes to tree care, especially major projects like tree removal. In the past, crews had to use pulleys, ropes and other tools to remove large trees safely and precisely, but modern rigging and lifting equipment has changed that completely. While they still require accuracy, modern tools make it easier for arborists to be more precise. This level of precision is even more important when crews are working around sidewalks or your building.
